Overview
Climb one of South America’s most active volcanoes on this defining ascent in the heart of Chile’s Lake District. Guided by certified local experts, you will ascend the Villarrica Volcano across snow, ice and volcanic terrain, reaching the summit crater with expansive views over lakes, forests and the Andes. A high-adrenaline experience that captures the raw volcanic character of Pucón.
The Experience
The ascent begins early in the morning. Depending on conditions, we may use the ski lift to cut the first hour of hiking. From there, we ascend the volcanic slopes, using crampons and ice axes as we reach the glacier and snowfields. The summit offers a view into the smoking crater and a 360-degree panorama of the region’s lakes and other volcanoes (Lanín, Quetrupillán, Llaima).
